Formerly only a farming site in Texas, Lavon has finally made its way to success. The first settlers came in the 1850’s seeking fertile soil. From a population of only 200 in the year 1930, it soon increased when Lavon Lake was constructed. Fishermen and families now enjoy recreational activities around the area.
It was only in the 1990’s that the growth in population increased significantly as a result of the housing projects and developments. Small businesses such as grocery markets, gas stations and restaurants soon followed the residential growth. Through the Grand Heritage housing projects, an additional 1900 homes were expected to be built in the area while shopping centers were developed along Highway 78. Today, Lavon, TX continues to grow and develop as more business owners see the town’s potential. Lavon is located in the southeast quadrant of Collin County and is near State Highway 205 and US Highway 78’s intersection.
