Princeton, TX was first named Wilson’s Switch which was derived from the name of the first two farmers who lived in the area who were also brothers. It is located between McKinney and Greenville, Texas providing convenient access to the northeast side of Dallas. Princeton also embodies a rich history as it was the site of a prisoner of war camp during World War II, during which the POW’s provided free labor to the town. The population began to increase only upon the construction of Lake Lavon.
Today, Princeton is rapidly increasing in population and is continually developing. One of its trademarks is the Onion Festival held the last Saturday in April.
