Originally called Seago, the town’s name was changed to Seagoville in 1910 because there was another city in Texas called Sego. The construction of the T&NO Railroad made life easier for the farmers at that time because they no longer had to ship their produce to Dallas via wagon. Livelihood in the early days was focused on the production of cotton and other crops.
Today, Seagoville has gone beyond expectations. Downtown Seagoville is set to be a retail area allowing for further development in the city’s core. Once only a small farming town, it is now home to several parks including Bruce Central Park, Petty White Park, Heard Park and Bearden Park. Situated along the Southern Pacific railroad and US Highway 175, this 16.2 square miles city is continually increasing in population spurring the need for additional homes.
