Watauga used to be only ranches and farm lands. Deriving its name from the Cherokee language, the town means “village of many springs”. The city’s population increased upon the completion and operation of the Texas Pacific Railway. Another reason why people call Watauga homes is its proximity to downtown Fort Worth which offers shopping centers, entertainment, hotels and restaurants. Its convenient access to the Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport is also a plus.
Today, residents of Watauga are growing in number. The city, which was once a wide-open expanse of farm land, is now dotted with business establishments, houses and residents. People who live there really appreciate the country feel and atmosphere that is characteristic of Watauga.
