Unmoved even by the Great Depression, Wylie proved to be one firm town which grew and developed even during that time. While other cities suffered economically, the town remained steadfast and even increased in population. The dairy farming industry and construction of two railroads helped the community cope with the crisis. Two fires and a tornado also struck the town but it managed to recover and persistently provided its residents with a lifestyle they deserve.
Each year, residents gather for programs like the Christmas Parade, Taste of Wylie, Tree Lighting, Boo on Ballard and other events. With Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard so nearby, it’s easy for residents to relax and enjoy the scenery and recreational activities. The city is served by several highways including State Highway 78, Farm to Market 544, F.M. 1378, F.M. 2514 and 3412.
